Yeah, the height-to-width ratio of all pages is the square root of two (1.4142 : 1). If you put two A4 sheets of paper together side by side, you still have the same ratio, but now you have a A3 sheet of paper!!
If you do not want to crop your images, you'll have to live with large white borders, because you will have to print smaller to fit the page, and the sides will be left white.
Edit : Tell us the dimensions of your image, and at what DPI you are printing.
