Better yet, I would like to see a clickable tab in the drop down menu under the 'Community' tab. Under this tab would be the next month or two where DPC'ers could post their travel plans and comments regarding their availability for meeting other DPC'ers.
I travel a bit and I plan to travel a lot more starting next month. Currently, I keep an eye on the forums for GTG's that might coincide with my travel plans.
I've also considered starting a thread for each trip that I take as an open invitation for anybody else who would like to join me or just meet up for a day. But this thread would have to be continually bumped just so that the few DPC'ers in that area would not miss it.
A place to post travel plans would afford the opportunity for DPC travelers to consider alterations to their plans so that they could mingle with other photographers and allow DPC'ers to check to see who is planning to visit their part of the world.
Several times, recently, I have found out afterwards that somebody involved in DPC has been here to the Miami area. Usually I realize this after the fact because they post photos in the forums of their trip or I see challenge entries that were taken down here.
If I could check the "DPC Travel Calendar" and know that someone is going to be in South Florida, I could make plans to meet up with them (if they were interested) and show them around to some places and sights that they might not find otherwise. I would greatly appreciate the same for me when I travel. |
