There are no automatic triggers, but occasionally we will investigate further, especially when this isn't the first time the user has had an image DQd for non-response.
As for how long you need to keep your originals, ideally they should be kept indefinitely (who wants to throw away their images?), but realistically you need to keep them for a few months at the minimum. In general the SC does not request proof on challenges that are no longer on the front page, but of course we reserve the right to do so should we have grounds to warrant investigating further.
