Hi, I own a Fuji FP 2800z but am in the market for a new / second hand digital camera which I can get a decent macro lense onto.
I know a lot of them say they can do macrophotography, but I am wanting it to the degree of filling a whole page with one bee / grasshopper etc. Very close in other words.
I am also wanting some manual controls such as shutter speeds, apature width etc as I miss this with my basic Digicam.
Also, does anyone know where a good place to buy second hand cameras are? (located in the UK) I ahve seen some good deals on ebay - but not sure if I want to part with 500 quid for a camera I haven't seen.
The 602s super macro is great, but good luck trying to get 1cm away from a bee to get the shot!
Nowadays I usually use closeup lenses.
pros:
You don't have to get as close to your subject, scaring it away/blocking the light.
You can stack them to get even more magnification.
Will fit any camera with a filter thread.
cons:
Lowers image quality, especially when you stack them.
Very tight depth of field.

Bod, i have a close up lens but never seem to be able to get a focus lock when i use it. Whats the best settings for it?
Stay out of macro mode and bang optical zoom up to full. Place the camera 6 inches or so from the subject and focus. If it doesn't lock you should still be able to find the focus by moving the camera backwards and forwards. Once it looks close on the LCD tell it to focus again and it should get it this time.
You get a very tight area that you can focus on, and DoF is even tighter, but once you get used to the focus distance it becomes quite easy to get it right most of the time.
