I've been playing around in my new 'studio'. I came away with some OK pictures, but my 'model' is sitting on white background paper, and there are some visible wrinkles in it. Is there a way to get rid of those, either before shooting (like, do I need to make her sit very carefully?), or post-processing?

Yes, and yes.

Even lighting from both sides, and separate lights shining on the background (behind the model) will help wash them out.

In post-processing, either create a mask and use Curves or Levels to wipe them out, or make a new layer and clone or airbrush them out.

Note that completely removing all detail from the background may not be legal for a DPC challenge entry.
