Ive been looking into used cameras on ebay, because i want to buy a canon eos 350 D. I found a deal that saves me about 150 Dollars. Since i dont really trust ebay, i only would go for it if its a local pickup so i asked the seller if it was available for that. I also asked him about the warranty and here is his response:
"It's quite preferred to be picked up actually. The warranty papers are still in the box, but i cannot guarantee anything as I have lost the receipt for it. You would have to ask Canon that question. However, these cameras hardly ever break down anyway. I have a 20D for over 2 years and still working fine. The only way people break their cameras is when they bring it to rainy weather or drop the module, that way, nobody guarantees anything right? Let me know"
Anybody know if I could take it to canon should there be a problem? Id rather spend the extra cash on a new camera if i had to, but since this one is supposedly brand new, and i would go check it out before I buy it, it could help me out. Thanks!
In some cases if you cannot produce a receipt the manufacturer will base your warranty on the manufacture date for your camera. I don't know whether Canon does this, though.
There is NO warranty on this with out that magic piece of paper...it is probably a year old anyway... I had my 350 serviced twice!
First time (Warranty running out) and I wanted to have my shutter button fixed....felt very mushy compared to others....but that was from day one!
Second time (3 days Warranty left) Flash would not attempt to pop up. They were good, but do not expect any info....if you do have to send one of these away, plan on about 3-4 weeks return time. I think I got my notification that the work would be done under warranty the same day I got the camera back. Great Camera, get a new one.
