I'm sure there is some email option or something that I've overlooked, but is there a way to be notified if a comment is left on a picture in your portfolio or an old challenge?

just keep track of the comments recieved in your profile. You can also click comments recieved and see what the last comment was.

Look at your profile, there will be a statistics box in the left-top corner. The comments you have made and recieved are there.
