I get grainy/noisy pictures with the Oly when I use higher ISOs and in low light conditions. So, I use ISO 64 almost exclusively, and, occasionally, for nightshots use the noise reduction feature in the camera. It's working for me.
Kosta, try setting the sharpness to -5, leave the contrast at 0 and push up the saturation to +5 and you'll find you won't have anymore noise problems.

-5 and +5? I've been using Carsten's suggestion of +2 saturation, -2 contrast, -2 sharpness, and it's been working for me. I should try the -5/+5. Gary, your 5050 pictures are great, do you have any other suggestions for improvement? I'm going on vacation tomorrow and would like to take lots of good pictures!

Thanks Ursula. But there isn't too much I can help you with. I also keep the ISO down at 64 with the C-5050 even for night shots. My bridge challenge shot was taken at ISO 64 with a 16 second shutter speed. For some reason it gets too grainy at higher ISO settings.
As long as the sharpness is turned way down, anything from -2 to -5 then noise shouldn't be a problem. I experimented a lot when I bought the camera and found the -5,0,+5 settings the best and stayed with them all the time no matter in what conditions.
I also shoot only using the MyMode setting where I have all 8 modes set for different conditions and resolutions.
