"Originally I had used the clone tool to substantially alter my shadow into the winged crusader. My wife in her wisdom told me I would be disqualified as you are only allowed minor cloning so I had to approach the problem from another angle.
I took 4 meters of her black backdrop material and made myself a shadow. I placed the material on the driveway and then went back to the camera to take the shot. I had to run down steps and get in position for the exposure - Buy the end of the shot I was beat!"
Having seen the original, I can assure you that it looked almost exactly like the submitted version. The only post work done would have been with colors/contrast etc. What he explains in the photographer's notes field is dead on with what we saw in the original.
For dpc, sometimes it is possible, and almost always desireable, to get your effect before you push the shutter. Just makes life easier, ya know? ;)
the light from the garage HAD to fall on the material as it lay on the driveway - so how much fixing had to be done to make it look this black and light free?
perhaps the photog is a wiz at set up, but I would love to see the original to know for myself how much cloning or other work was done to it.

Very little work. If you look at the submitted version, you can see the patterning of light/shadow. It doesn't show much on the black fabric, not like on the floor where it makes a very distinct pattern. The photog did an excellent job of setting this up.
LOL - Mwitt - looks to me like you realy stepped in that one. By the way - Cyndane - love your work. Again my question - How in the hell do you guys come up with these ideas? Maybe there is a lack in my education. Don't get me wrong - I can take the shot, but everything must be there - I just don't get the ideas for making the set-up. I am working on it though.

In my "recreation" of it, levels did most of the work. a "bit" of dodging, was just that, a bit. Percentage? want a number? I have no way to quantify that, but it wasn't much. The clone tool around the ear could be counted by pixels.
Now, my experience around here tells me that I have probably just set myself up to be in the middle of a conflict, so please know, I am simply posting this as the question keeps coming up.
If the photog wants to post the original, that is his perogative. If not, that is up to him as well.
