i can't wait to see this abstract challenge. there are few people that seem to appreciate digital art and abstract images in this community. i wonder if only few will be able to create them well. probably. i often get many comments saying "i can't tell what it is" or "what am i looking at?" when i try artsy shots during challenges. never mind that these comments don't help, but maybe try looking a little deeper.

I got a bad feeling about this one; all together now, let's try defining "object" and "recognizable as"... For example, imagine a closeup shot of the edge of a geothermal pool, whit its outrageous colors and patterns.
Now, this is clearly an object, right? I mean, ANYTHING we shoot is an object, or how can we shoot it? Except pure light, of course, that's not an object I don't suppose... So does this challenge mean "If it is recognizable as a specific/paricular object it is not an abstract"? That makes more sense, but even so... YOU might be able to recognize a geothermal pool, but Joe and Jen might not.

Even if it's recognizable, I think you'll be ok. A few 2's from the DNMTC Nazi's won't bring you down too much.
I've been wondering the same thing though. I have a really cool image that I want to submit but it's clearly recognizable.

Which makes me want to make an image where the object is still identifyable, but just so, and see how many people recognize it. :)

Yeah, as an abstract, you are supposed to just see what you are supposed to see, the art of it. The pureity of the submission.
But, within the other challenges, abstracts don't do well because of many reasons, but mainly because they DNMC.
So, in this case, untie the imagination and create. Don't submit a wide shot of a rock, or a bunch of flowers because that is not an abstract.
Many people vote with their emotion, and not within the confines of the challenges. And that can be an oxymoron since emotion is part of what we strive for as an artist, (story is the other part).
But, since these challenges do have rules, we as artists must take a second look at our art before submitting to make sure the three roads (emotion, story, and rules) merge into perfect harmony. Otherwise, low voting scores will be abundant.
The Challenge details are keeping me far away from this one even though I had a few ideas that I liked. They won't fly under that description...plain and simple.

i looked through the abstract gallery and based mine off one of those (kinda)...i usually dont enter on this site because the talent is so good that i dont want to enter crap but i think this one is pretty good! hoping for a 6 or above.
