The results of the 'Wildlife II' challenge have been recalculated due to the image formely in 254th place being disqualified as the photographer did not provide the original and editing steps when requested to do so.

Seems shocking until you realize that 254th (with the scores given in that freaking contest) were extremely high. 254th equals a pretty darn good score actually. I think it's even in the 6's if I remember correctly...

I'm sorry and don't mean to come off rude, but he didn't necessarily cheat just because he failed to submit the original and steps. Maybe he is on assignment or something that takes him away from his system (poor person). I understand that the request for the original means that SC has questions about the image and this usually points to something outside the rules but that still doesn't instantly mean he's a cheater. Just seemed like too strong of words.
Other than being questionable Wildlife, what caused it to be disqualified? I don't see it.

It apparently was DQ'd because the original file wasn't sent as requested. As to the reason for the DQ request being initiated...probably won't ever know. ;^)

LOL! oops - wow, that is pathetic. the poor chap probably just didn't bother uploading, and considering now the score won't count toward his average, he probably was the one who sent the request for confirmation...
If my image was placed 254th out of 258th and i had a DQ request it`s quite possible my original may go missing as well. lol
Hee hee, well, that's why the "Self-DQ" system was put in place. If you just fail to submit an original, you'll be DQ'd by the normal process, which means the stinker shot will be visible publicly after the challenge, along with the non-submission reason. Now, if you take a self-DQ, at least the result will be hidden, so there's an advantage to staying within the system.
If you've had a DQ (self-DQ or otherwise) within your last 25 entries, you would not be able to self-DQ. If in that case you did not submit an original, you'd be subject to a penalty (suspension), so it's wise to think once, twice, three times before taking either path.
The problem I have with this whole 48hours business is that I don't have internet at home - once or twice a weel I will go to an internet cafe and browse the net - If DPC wants my original from me and I miss the window period, I will be DQ. DQ for no fault of my own.
I liked this DQ'd photo though.
I dont think I would be looking for messages from dpchallenge in my email If I was in nr 254. The picture is quite nice, though in my opinion it Doesn't fit in this challenge.
