Firstly, welcome to DPChallenge.
One thing I would say relating to aperture/shutter/ISO/etc is that you don't need to jump in and start using them all straight away. The A70 has a number of preset modes, such as landscape, action shot, and so on, that will allow you take technically good photos. By learning the camera in stages you can achieve some good results as you're learning all the features.
I've had a look through your Roses album. It looks like the photos were taken in low light levels (evening/dawn?). They've come out pretty well. They nicely fill the image and you've got a nice depth of field. Unfortunately I think because of lighting the camera had to choose a slow shutter, meaning some of the photos were a little blurred because you were moving your hands very slightly. Watching out for the camera shake icon (two hands and a square) in the very bottom-left of the screen. I find taking my time, and taking a firm hold of the camera helps, for hand-held shots.
