I was bored and playing around so I loaded up DPC on The Wayback Machine from May 31st 2002 and had a look around. It was fun but the thing that REALLY stuck me was the challenge results - 218 photos submitted to the challenge and 56339 votes cast! I had no idea this site was that popular back then.
It's fun to go see some of the familiar names back then too.
Edited because I realized the votes cast is actually on par with votes cast today (I didn't realize so many people voted on this site).
The Road Challenge had a comparable 220 entries, and 66,090 votes cast.
Remember also that in 2002 there was only one challenge per week (one challenge per TWO weeks in the very beginning). Now, there are three challenges per week with voters dividing their time between them. The challenges currently in results phase have a combined 513 entries, and 141,290 votes cast.
WOW! 56,000 plus votes. I would really like to see that for myself. Do you have a link for that. Not that I don't believe you or anything, but that is amazing.

Yea, I edited my post, I have only entered the one challenge and made an incorrect assumption based on the number of votes cast vs. the number received. It's still amazing to me though considering how long ago that was.
