Water Lilly: "Too dark" LOL Seriously, I would have given a 6.

Lady Bug: A seven from me, I really like this one. I like the framing, the focus and exposure are perfect, and the background has just the right amount of blurring to make the subject stand out. Since it's not a DPC submission, I'd consider darkening the background a bit in PS.
Looking carefully, I see this could also be a self-portrait.

I think you have the eye photographs. Either one would have probably produced your acg or even better. I would have rated better than your avg. I hope your sub. is even better than these pic's.

I like the water lilies. I think they are just right (not too dark). I'd rather have the warm mystery and lovely colors. I'd give it an 8 or 9. If I weren't so grouchy from getting mad at my kids, maybe even a 10!

I'd give the water flower a 5. Lost points because IMO, isnce the theme is 'round' and your primary subject is the blooming flower, I'd feel that it distracts my attention from the rounder subjects (green pads).

But very nice photo!

Nice focus on the ladybird one too.
