It's really not fair to those of us who haven't read the book yet to give away the ending like this... kind of takes the excitement out of the read for us.
In the future, please include a spoiler warning (like the one I added) in the subject line.
I don't think he's really dead. there were too many indicators that he's up to something, and the "death" didn't come as a surprise to me. Can't wait for the next one to see if my hunches are correct. Snape isn't a bad guy, either.
A few questions for you if you think he really is dead.
What is Dumbldore's familiar?
What is special about Fawkes?
Why would the traitor (no name here) that he trusted so well, not allow others to do the deed, when he swore he would not act, mearly support the action of the other one who was suposed to kill him?
Why did his "killer" run ahead of the other so no one else saw what he did and not allow the normal group kill of death eaters?
I'm sorry for not thinking about putting a spoiler alert on the title. Was feeling rather upset with how it ended!
Hmm, now that some of you mentioned it, it does appear strange why Dumbledore has stupefied Harry instead of defending himself. I mean, it's only Malfoy after all. And fawkes, I almost forgot what he can do...
My other guess would be Horcruxes too? Maybe Dumbledore has got one too? (yikes, means he has killed before?)
Never read a Harry Potter book nor seen any of the movies. But the boy I am a 'Big Brother' to reads/has read them all and seen all the movies so far. He was not disappointed in the ending. When he talked about it he said: "You know what Chris, if he dies he dies. The rest of the characters are still there."
I'm in the middle of reading it, I don't care if there is spoiler or not here.

I got hooked on HP when I heard my nephew saying something about the books. He didn't like them. So, I picked one up.. it's been downhill for me since. Cannot wait for the next to come out. I have a friend in Germany, who is 35.. he is the same way. It just hit my funny bone, that these 'children books' are so beloved by so many adults.

well, after some of the comments from you guys, I really hope that Dumbledore would return in a way like Gandalf did. Tho now I do have a feeling that he planned the whole thing so that Snape could be entirely trusted by Voldermort, and so the Order could find out where all the other Horcruxes are hidden :p
