I hope this isn't taken the wrong way, but any interested photographers who live near Mormon temples, I'd like to try to get *together* somehow, take photos of these temples, which are literally all over the world, and perhaps together we could have a central *location* where Mormons could find lovely shots of the temples that are either near them, or in which they were married.
For those who don't know, to Mormons (members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), their temples are places of learning about Jesus and his teachings, but they also perform sacred rituals like marriages in them. Because these marriages and other ceremonies in essence (and from their point of view) create the opportunity for family relationships even after this life, temples are considered very special. Almost all active Mormons have photos of temples on their walls at home--usually of a temple that is close by, or in which they were married.
My temple shot, of the Logan temple in Utah (USA) is an example. And the fact is--most photos of temples that are on Mormons' walls aren't all that great. The talent and skill level here, I think, has the potential for providing excellent and unique photos to a very real market.

And I hope none of you take offense at this message; I'm certainly not trying to preach or anything--I'm just trying to find good photographers and good photos!
We have one of the largest Mormon temples in Europe (I think) here in Chorley ... and I've never got round to shooting it!!! Gawd knows how - there's nothing else here. I'll be sure to let you know when I do.
My wife (known as BNC around here) and I were married in the Provo Utah temple 22 years ago. I don't have any good photos of that Temple however; I took this photo of the Mesa Arizona Temple Christmas Eve of 2002.
In recent forum activity, we were discussing how to better market DPCPrints, and I think the photos that have been shown would be very attractive to this audience, especially as there is not really a good source for such art work--and I know they are looking for these kinds of shots.
I would propose that if some of you are interested, we could get a central website together that has thumbnails of shots, but than then refer to the DPCPrints site, where the photo is available. In this way, we are marketing DPCPrints in perhaps one of the best ways--by catering to a specific market. And this market, I think requires that we set up an outside source for marketing because of the narrow audience.
(By the way, hortopth, there are temples in Perth and Brisbane, I think, and I sure thought there was one in Melbourne...)
My favorite temple is the San Deigo temple. That one is just beautiful. My favorite photo of it had won POTD a couple months ago. I thought about emailing the photographer and seeing if there was a way to get a copy of the picture or a print.
Anyways, Temples are some great places to go get building shots as well as flowers and other photos.

Think of it this way: you've just gotten married and you want a picture of the temple you were married in to remind you and your family to return to heaven together. THAT is the kind of shot this market wants. And Oakland is a lovely temple...
Sanandan, I don't know how it would do for these purposes, but my favorite is the fifth one, in which you capture the reflection in the window. Cool stuff!
How timely- I took one for the B challenge, was going to call it Believe or something like that. Then I liked one of a dog named Bowzer in a barn better. Then I submitted neither.
