what is the best lens Tamron af 90mm macro or Canon 100mm macro
can't speak for the canon (other than to say "canon?!? icky!!" hehe)
but i love my tamron 90mm. i've taken 9 of my 13 entries with it... (10 of 16 if you count the ones now in voting...)
general rule of thumb is go get a canon lens for canon camera, or nikon lens for nikon camera, etc.
Generalities with lenses don't usually get you very far. The Tamron SP series lenses are up there with the L series from Canon, but some of their others are, well, lacking.
The canon 100mm F2.8 USM Macro is an amzing lens. If you ask me, it's a bargain at $450.
Very sharp, very fast auto focus, and a very shallow DOF when you want it.
Photo.net has an excellent comparison between the Tamron and the Canon macros. I'd recommend you check that out.
Popular Photography tested a new Tokina 100mm macro on their Nov. issue and states excellent sharpness from f2.8 on and wonder if paying more for Canon/Tamron/Nikon is worth it. I'm thinking about getting that when I get a macro lens.
