I've just returned from LV, it was quite sunny and warm. It is currently snowing here. My initial thought is "I used to live in the desert, it's kinda nice in the desert ...."

But so it goes ....

So, after recovering images from my CF card I'll start sharing. I didn't get many shots (being a hick-country-boy I like to watch you big-city folks and you're goings ons). I think I filled but 3 cards in four days - a low.

Here are the first out of the hopper, critique as you see fit - I'll probably be refining these early ones as time goes on but would love your input beforehand, these are just to get things started.

Yeah I know, I go to Vegas and find birds. Less-bird-laden photos will follow ....

As part of the not-quite-gtg anyone who was in Vegas last week is more than welcome to share - this includes mandyturner who was there but our paths and flights crossed for far too short a time to do a gtg - or anyone who has any Vegas photos, mug shots included.

Judy brings up a point known only to me, her, and whomever reads comments on photos. I'll expand on her salient point:

The penquin keeper lady (who was not wearing a vegas-show-girl-head-dress) said the hardest part keeping these penquins isn't the heat, it's the cold. These are South African penquins, Nevada is too *cold* for them so they have heaters in the penquin caves.

Bad news #2: at least 66% of my raw files are hosed, luckily I shoot raw+basic. Hopefully I'll be able to recover, but I'm getting doubtful - looks like basic jpgs from here on out, we'll have to see how many of those made it through.

Hopefully #2: mandy found time to get away from the curvesy people and photo on.

(FYI- bad news #1 is it's snowing)

If you've read this far you find my goings-on much too interesting :)

More. As I was milling about the Bellagio a happy couple needed the prime spot I was occupying (actually their photographer did, unfortunately I never got her name but she was full of pep!) Not wanting to mar their years together with first evening angst I obliged in giving them the spot. This is my favorite shot of the trip, I'm such a sap.

Edit to say I expect kpriest to unleash woodies and godzillas on these photos. Expect.

Or maybe have them Jutildalized. :)

It's time for the Dancing Fountain at the Bellagio

I was too lazy to go back and get good shots so these will have to do.

Here are some of my pics. I haven't had time to go though all 300! I went crazy!! I only went to the Convention one day. Yeah I know....I am a bad girl! But when would I get the chance to go to Vegas again? I am not the best outdoor photographer but I had a great time.
