I noticed while reading the comments on our first and second placed winners in the Off Center challenge that a lot of people seemed to like insect macros. That being the case, I thought it was worth posting this, which was posted today on PhotoBlink. I think this is the finest insect macro I have ever seen.
Jacko - I loved the bee shot! That's working hard for your honey! The beetle shot was wonderful too! The spider looks good, but there's that small DOF with a wide subject bugger. Funny how small the spider's rear portion was. The lady bug looks familiar...have I seen that in a challenge? IMHO the red's a little overdone, but the rest - ooo la la!
Patzt - Yup, crab spiders have that cool cameleon effect. Do you know if it's a one time choice or can they change at will? I've got a nifty shot of a yellow version on a black eyed susan, very cool spider! You've got a neat name for it...I'd call it Lunch! Ha!
Should be titled "Polyphemus on rebar"... beautiful photo. Nice example of Polyphemus moth, a female, I think. Lots of great insect shots here. I think we need an "insect macro" challenge... or would that be a bit TOO much?

achiral, I really appreciated your bee photos. I grew up in a beekeepers family--my father did as well--and then my husband and I took over my father's apiary but after a few years, he became allergic to their stings so we had to give it up.
What lovely shots of the bee flying! Oh, how I wish I could catch one like that!
