hehe, it's not really the same thing, but my lovely car hit a trampoline about a day and a half after the voting started (for the mag challenge), and bounced back 0.95 points!
Don't worry, I haven't finished voting yet and I'm NOT giving below a 5. Not unless the photography of the photo is so horrid as to desperately deserve it....or there is no photographer in it!
Like I said in another thread, it's very difficult not to take it personally when you took the shot and it's of yourself. Can't get much more personal than that. I've been very lenient on my voting, nothing below 5, because I see this challenge being more for fun than a serious photographical contest. If I knew which shot was yours I'd be happy to bump it up a bit. : )
Nah, you don't have to bump me up...I'm a stock broker; I have REALLY thick skin. It's sad though, when you hear of all these people who refuse to vote below a 5, yet your score is 5.1.
Fortunately my off centre shot remains above a 6...for now.
Sure thing. I'll just look for the South-Park-looking gal with bright red hair and big sunglasses. What the heck, I think I'm just gonna bump everyone up to a 10.
It probably says something about my skills that I find an overall 4 to be pretty good, and anything over 5 starts making me blink and giggle and be all excited because it's such a *good* score! :->
I wasn't sure if I'd be able to stick to my intention not to take it personally but actually I'm finding it surprisingly easy.
My score is 4.6 ish and I don't feel it's a reflection on me or my looks in the slightest.
I think some people can see the (obvious) technical flaws, some people don't believe it fits the challenge, others have personal beliefs/ preferences that have come into play, some people don't think the content or composition are very exciting and others just don't like it as an image, plain and simple.
The fact that some people do really like it and have given me comments that I never dreamed I'd receive is what I am most pleased about.
