Nah, a turkey is a big, dumb, almost flightless bird. It doesn't even come close of meeting EU requirements.
On the more serious side, I am in no way an expert on Turkey, but I don't think it should be allowed into the EU until it respects human rights on a consistent basis. There still seems to be a few horror stories out there I think.
Im in no way an expert on Turkey either. But I think that the majority of turkey is muslim which culturally doesnt seem to fit what Europe is about. They also have a large population so they would sway many decisions in their favour if they were in the EU.

I see you list Poland as one of your locations in your profile. Seems that you have forgotten that Poland was in Turkey's position in the very recent past?
As for human rights, the best way to improve the situation is from within the EU. There are religious-based problems in Turkey associated with, for instance, the provision of healthcare for women but, again, these are matters which can be addressed. Turkish Islam is not connected directly to government unlike most middle eastern countries so there can be rational discourse between it and the other EU countries. Just my opinion.

Yes, I believe it would be better if Turkey and Europe had the same goals, but everyone looks after themselves. And I do believe it would be great if they both worked together in the past but stuff like this seemed to happen.
Not until they stop harassing the Kurds. There have been some iffy imprisonments and other type of dubious actions on behalf of the Turkish government.
(Not that the Kurds have been any better, with terrorist tactics)

Turkey is a secular country, not a muslim one. Kemal Ataturk took care of that about 70 years ago when he restructured the nation. Turkey is, in part, on the European Continent and shares many "Western" ideals.
Should it join the EU? If it meets the appropriate standards, why not? After all, the EU let in Spain, and they're *gasp* mostly Catholic! (Not to forget how incredibly un-advanced they have been for most of the last century concerning elder-care, and women's rights to name a couple.)
