I have received a few comments that stated my picture was too dark. My wife says its dark on her monitor at work. So, apparently I need a Monitor Calibration device. I new this was the case anyway but now its painfully obvious.

Does anyone have the Color Vision Spyder.

Any help or guidance on this would be greatly appreciated.

I calibrated mine manually using the hardware controls and a website suggested in a previous thread under 'hardware' called 'Monitor Calibration.' It's a roughjob, but I'm just looking for decent gamma and reasonable color.

If you've got Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, you can use the Adobe Gamma utility it installs in your control panel (assuming you're on Windows) to adjust your monitor.

You could also try printing an image and (assuming that the print looks how oyu'd like it to) adjust the monitor to most closely match the print.

I use a colorvision spyder, with the photocal software and have great results with print output, using the correct profiles.

There are quite a few places offering discount pricing on the colorvision, for example 20% through this link

You may well be able to get it at a much cheaper price if you look carefully.

The main reason I got a calibration spyder was to get accurate print output, rather than for dpchallenge entries. The Adobe Gamma utilities or web page adjustment guides are probably good enough for that.
