First off thanks to everyone who voted on my photo, I had some really good comments and Im so excited I got second place. I finally broke into the top 10 !!!!!
I was begining to wonder if I had done too much sharpening after the voting began.
as to how I got the shot I did a little write up with sample pics....
BB gun. good idea! It was a really great shot of shattering glass.
I wanted to shoot a lightbulb that was lit... but I don't have a bb gun or burst mode. Maybe you can try that one too (I settled for dropping lightbulbs onto a piece of glass and hitting the shutter at the same time ... 4 bulbs = 4 shots.)
Did you wear goggles and use something to protect your lens? I thought about the lens and forgot about my own eyes :P
What a great image. I love it. And now I can show my wife that im not the only nut that does stuff like that inside the house. My Magazine Cover looks dangerous and was in the house as well. Great job and thanks for showing use the way it was done!
indigo, that sounds interesting, about a lit light bulb, but I dont have a disposable lamp at this time to try it with :( , maybe I can find one at a garage sale for cheap.
Yes I did wear eye protection and the camera did have a haze filter on.
And yes Im still finding bits of glass and BB's in the garage
Thanks for the explanation James. It's nice to see that you did it using something a little less high tech than a sound trigger device. Gives hope to those of us who can't afford those types of things. Again, a well deserved win.
whats a sound trigger device??? i mean i have an idea of its function, but have never seen one or heard of it.

Check out hiviz.com It tells you how to make sound activated triggers for using a flash. If you use it in complete darkness then the flash acts as a fast shutter speed so is good for stopped motion, lumbardh used one for this shot (it was him who posted the link originally i think). Though I dont know if you can get sound activated triggers for shutters.
ADD: Yes that cool picture is definately where i got the hiviz link from. Unfortunatley my camera doesn't do extended shutter speeds so I wont be able to try this :o(
