My daughter has taken an interest in photography and she wants to shoot some landscapes using slide film. We are going up to Lake Powell next week and she should have some great opportunities. She will be using a Pentax K1000 with a 50mm prime lens. I haven't used slide film since I was in HS so I am looking for some advice. What film would you recommend and are there any tricks that we need to know about.

By the way I am going to be taking similar pictures with my E-20 and it will be interesting to compare the finished product.

I absolutely love the Velvia 50 slide film. It has super fine grain, clarity and saturation. Lake Powell is a great place for Velvia 50. I envy you but wear your sunblock!

Here are some more opinions on the film.

Velvia Slide Film
Canon EOS-450D Rebel XSi
Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS

A Pentax K1000 is always my choice in a camera, and for lanscapes, Velvia 50 is also my choice. You just can't go wrong with that stuff.

Thanks to everyone for your input. I think we will give the Velvia a try. One more question, I noticed that the pro film is refrigerated. Lake Powell gets VERY hot. How will the high heat affect the film? Should we put it back in the cooler after it is exposed?

Roger, I don't really know. I'm sure they can recommend something at the camera store where you purchase the film. I don't refridgerate mine but I usually use it within a month of purchasing.
