I dropped my camera on Sunday while I was setting up my illusion shot. The result is that the zoom lens became dislodged and will not work. (Didn't even get to take the illusion picture....) I must send my camera away for repairs - will be out of commission for at least 3-4 weeks. I'm in serious withdrawal now - can't take any pictures - so depressed.......

Sorry to hear about that :( I'm always paranoid about dropping my camera also. I use my neck strap all the time as well. I even keep it on while i'm looking up to the tripod. Connecting to the tripod is a very common time to drop a camera... Once I'm connected to the tripod, I wrap the neck strap around the panning handle just in case the camera would become dislodged from mount...

Can't be too careful :)

My Canon Elph was dropped by my sister and the flash card door was broken and that's it. Otherwise it worked fine but she said it was ok to send it in to get it fixed properly so I wouldn't always have to use tape to keep the door closed. It ended up costing $168 after tax and shipping! They fixed a few other little things on it as well and I initially thought I was being nickled and dimed but it turns out that they have a minimum $150 service charge for any kind of problem that they have to fix regardless of how minor. Just a little warning of what to expect. At least the camera is looking and functioning as good as new. By the way, my sister paid for most of it ; )

I'm suffering thru camera withdrawal as well. I UPS'ed mine back to Olympus Friday. Hopefully it will be fixed or replaced by late next week. Has a burned out pixel (or a cluster of them). I like my camera, but I wouldn't mind a new one. Of course, since I don't have my camera naturally I'm coming up with clever new ideas for the superstition/ urban legend challenge (How are we shortening that by the way...that's a mouthful). Well if nothing else I'll help my wife with hers. Maybe she'll let me borrow hers for a shot or two. Good luck this week folks.
