I made a similar comment to this on a picture - I have no idea if it was yours. In the instance where I made the comment I don't believe that there was anything that could be done to fix it within the constraints of the rules, it was just a well shot picture that something in the background detracted from. It was nobody's fault but it just caused the picture to be less impressive than it otherwise would have been. The only way to have improved that particular one would have been to shoot again when the distracting feature was absent - with no guarantees that the main shot would have worked as well. Photography IS partially luck and opportunism, not simply skill.
