I was given a "Nero Burning" cd burner by a friend. It's only 2X, but that's 2X more than I had and the HiRes files are eating up the space on my hard drive.
Here's the question. The burner will only accept '*.nrg, *.iso, and *.cue' files. I use PaintShopPro v8 and PSP v7, and can't find any option to save my image files in any of those formats.
Any suggestions on how to get around this without spending big bucks?
Two suggestions: Find CD-writing software to drive that instead of what it has, or just change the names of your files consistently (e.g. rename all .jpg files to .iso files). Write down the code you use on the disk -- when you copy the file back to your hard drive, just rename it back to the original extension and it should work.
You're using the Nero software in the wrong way. Those file formats are disk images, not individual files. You don't want to be duplicating CDs, you want to create a new data CD.
A multi-session CD will allow you to do incremental backups (use part of the CD and add stuff later) but will not work in older CDROMs for playback/ reading.
Bless you all, Gentlemen! I've saved the step by step instructions and will have a go with them. Another alternative I've got is to take it back to work and have the guy that gave it to me and installed it take it out so I can get a proper one with all the software and instructions included. Sometimes you get what you pay for, it's true.
Well, I think the directions worked fine and I MIGHT have recorded the cd. BUT, my cdrom seems to have disappeared into thin air. Not present with the other devices in "My Computer". I can see it trying to read the cd, but can't find the device to read the cd anymore. Back to the drawing board, I'm afraid. This 'free' cd burner might not be worth using...
If you're handy enough with a computer to install it, you could always get a new, high speed (52x24x52) cd burner for about 10 bucks after rebate. Just go to //passwird.com and look at the second entry for today (Sunday) and follow the instructions for that deal. Looks like it also includes Nero as the software though.
