Okay, I don't want to cause any problems here but when I'm voting on challenges I find hard to give high scores to pictures that don't look like they were taken for the challenge. Maybe I'm being picky but after looking at 300 pictures of one topic when I move onto the next challenge I'm tired of looking the same old same old. I get the topic challenge then I try to shoot for it, new photo and new ideas. I don't reuse the same idea. Just wanted to get that off my chest. Thanks :)
When the two challenge topics have a little "overlap" there should be no problem with taking pictures for both challenges during a single shoot. Not everyone has the luxury of time, and if it fits both challenges, so be it. I have absolutely no problem with people using their time wisely and killing the two proverbial birds with one stone. Lots of people have the forethought and abilities to intentionally shoot for two challenges at the same time. Yes, there is a lot of overlap this time, and there will be with Wooden and Textures III, and that's OK. Time is valuable, most of us have real lives with kids and jobs and other things in the 3D world that reduce the available time to shoot. Why should that be penalized?
edit: The concept that shots are "leftovers" is pretty presumptuous. I would venture to guess that most were not "leftover" at all and were 100% intentionally shot for textures at the time.
Like seeing leftover zoo pictures posted in the textures challenge! Anybody that did that is getting low marks from me.
How can you vote like that when you have NO idea what challenge the photograph was actually taken for? Do you think any of the photos submitted of an animal with texture could have been submitted by a NON-member who could not even submit to the zoo challenge?

Seeing a full image of a zebra or some other animal is a stretch and obviously just thrown in to the challenge. There are some pretty obvious ones in there. Now maybe if that picture focused on one particular part of an animal nad had something CLEARLY related to the textures challege, than I would think differently. As for having the luxury of time, well people do not have to enter every challenge. If you don't have anything good picture-wise, than just wait till the next challenge. This kind of thinking will also help to keep the submission numbers lower than the 600+ we are seeing now.

Using the word "Anybody" is painting with an extremely broad brush and is the root of the problem I have with your theory. Vote how you wish, but voting down "Anybody" is a disservice to "Anybody" who really did take pictures for both challenges, intentionally, and with some semblence of skill and pride.
Didn't realize I was not allowed to express a personal opinion regarding my preferance in pictures. Sorry for that... I have learned my lesson.
In the future if somebody could please tell me what it is I like and how I should vote before the challenge starts it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Eh, dont worry about it. I dont agree with it, but everyone has their own certain ways they vote and they are all different. When you vote pretty darn low anyhow, I guess it just touched a nerve.
Dont sweat it man. Their are no rules to voting, and you have every right to vote anyway you want.
Wooden is going on right now and tools of the trade....what do you mean someone couldnt shoot 2 shots at the same time for different subjects?

Zoo was not yet in voting and textures was not yet in voting and yes you could have went on tuesday/wednesday/thursday/friday/saturday and aprt of sunday and gotten your challnges taken care of at one time. Nothing wrong with it at al..
I think you need a calendar or a or a watch. Their are always 2 challenges going on at the same time if not more with a 24 hour challenge.
I don't mind seeing animals for the zoo then seeing a close up of feathers for texture and I don't mean you can set up and shoot two shots like wooden and tools of the trade or wooden and texture but I'm sure you'll have someone submit just a close up of wood for tools of the trade, when clearly there are no tools in that picture. I just think each photo should relate to the challenge topic by more than it's title
