Went to the San Diego fair today and they just happened to have a monster truck competition...It was cool as they were shooting a bit for the Discovery Channel.
Gotz to love the big white glass...sharpness yes but I planted myself way down front (very front with the crew) and as the kicked out all the point and shooters back to their seats they didn't even bother me...guess they thought I was important or something (silly goofs). Anyways here are a handful of the first shots I pulled up on the pewter.
And for the youngsters this one was being driven by a 15 year old
Nope no ear plugs and it was quite loud, but it was when they got screwy on the cars that freaked me out.
Like this one...I didn't know to shoot or run... a photo stops that action but in real life they keep coming...this guy just missed the wall in front of me.
Was this at the Del Mar Fair?? Have they changed the name of it? That was always my most favorite part of the summer, going to the fair. Always a great time. You got some really cool shots too. That last one you posted is just scary. :-) I'd be running.

Yup they changed the name of it...I still can't get it right. It is the San Diego County fair at the Del Mar Fairgrounds... Sheesh...it is quite a huge thing...hundreds of thousands of people go to the thing.
Nice shots, Andy! Very Monster-Truck-Magazine like. I used to stay at a hotel down the street from the Del Mar fairgrounds every week for several months during a consulting gig a couple years ago. I LOVE IT DOWN THERE!
