many people commented on the glaring signs in the pic. i didn't have enough time to spend in the train station as i found out when they kicked me out that i wouldn't have time to fix the huge distracting signs. was there any dpc legal way to fix the glare on those signs with levels or something? or is that basically a composition problem.
I can't think of a legal way to change the signs, but I actually really like it just as it is. I didn't have time to do any voting on the transportation challenge, nor did I enter, but I think your entry would have gotten a 10 from me. I particularly like the high contrast, and I like all the dark tones and that you didn't lose detail in those places.
I tried cutting the glare and giving the screens a more monitor-like bluish tone using two Curves in Photoshop 5, one on the RGB channel and one on the Blue. Mainly kept all the values above about 7 the same, while cranking the zero value up to almost 20 or so. Was something like this what you had in mind?

I was just wondering... why were you kicked out??? I hope it was not a security issue... I know lately, I have been made to move when setting up night shots, due to the fact, people are jittery when they see people taking pictures, since 9-11.

as for the security issue, it was a private property issue. they didn't want anyone taking photos within 25 feet of the station, so i got the boot. they weren't mean about it or anything, just kinda stinks because i think i could have gotten a much better shot.

I'll export the Curve and email you the file so you can mess around with it. "Curves" is a very powerful tool, especially since you can put it on an adjustment layer and experiment non-destructively. I like to just drag the curves around until I see something I like; try dragging the curve into funny shapes on one or more colors.
