On the topic, though, I wonder if it's because it's a British model? I know a british gentleman of my acquaintance (Mike Scott, Max) has a camera almost identical to mine, but with a slightly different button arrangement and a totally different model number. I looked it up later and that model is not purchasable in the USA, for no clearly-stated reason.
