What do you think the best quality nikon lens is and how much does it cost?

my 50mm is VERY sharp. I wish I had a sample here but I'm at work. :-)

The 50mm is the most reasonably priced lens around, too.

A while ago I read somewhere that Nikkor AF 180mm f/2.8D ED-IF is the sharpest lens Nikon ever produced.

They're talking about the Nikon 50mm F/1.8 D for about $95.00

I believe it's the 200mm 2.0... cost I don't know... a lot.

On this page here here the 50mm F1.8 got the highest grade, 4.4

The sharpest don't have to be the most exeoncive!

200mm F2.0 is USD 4.500 at BH Photo

But many Nikon fan's say the 17-35mm F2.8 is the best overall quality lens from Nikon (but that is perhaps more for full frame Nikons i.e. films). And that one is about 1.500 USD.

The 105mm Macro and the 60mm Macro are both very sharp. Almost too sharp if you use them for portraits. 60mm is about $300 not sure what the 105 goes for. The 80-200 2.8 also get very good reviews for a lens that only goes for about $750
