Just because I spotted that your shot was from a Fuji camera in that challenge :-)
best place to check out the differences is probably dpreview.com - they seem to go into real depth about cameras.
Both seem to be great value for money - the 602 is the 'prosumer' version - the nearest you'll get to a real pro's camera from Fuji without going upto SLR. All the control you need - and a couple of extra goodies like a maximum 1/10000 shutter speed, and ISO upto 1600 (but with limited resolution at that speed equivalent).
The only thing to watch out for is the introduction of the 4th generation superCCD - this should bring prices down for the other cameras, but I don't know what they're planning at the 602 end of the market with it - but they sure ahve something to live up to.
