well, I am in OKC and I am dying for a GTG. hehe. Set it up and I will be there with bells on. Well, I might not have bells on, but I will bring my remote shutter release and a tripod that we could bang together and make sounds like a bell. Well, it might not sound like a bell but we could.... I don't know. Anyway, how about a GTG?
hey kawestex, I think we should do an OKC gtg as well. Don't mean to thread hijack, but we should totally talk dartompkins and postoakinversion into getting together and doing some shooting. Short of that, I would love to hang out and get some shots with you any time. I didn't know you were from OKC. There are some cool things to shoot around here and I'm sure we could have some fun and get some great photos.
Are you OKCrs members of the local camera clubs? If not, you should consider it. Metro Camera Club and Oklahoma Camera Club.

I would be pretty much limited to the DFW area also. An OKC GTG sounds good. I've only been in OKC for about 2 years and still learning and seeing things. There is a Drag Boat Race on the Oklahoma River downtown on the 8-10 July. That's a possibility!!
I had planned on being at the boat races. I am really excited about it. I wish I had something longer than my 70-200mm. I still think that it will be a great deal of fun. Should we start our own OKC GTG thread? Dartompkins how do the boat races sound? I also think you could get some great shots of people at that event. I had also planned on walking around downtown and just shoot people around there. Who wants to set a specific date and a time?
Well, I have plans for the afternoon of the 9th. I am thinking of going to a seminar about lighting. I could meet up on the morning of the 9th or on the tenth but I will have to bring the family. My husband would be devistated if I attended boat races without him! Does anyone know the schedule of events?
Another upcoming event is the Bethany freedom festival over the 4th of july weekend. I actually would love to meet up to take fireworks pictures somewhere. I am a little chicken to be running around the city after dark alone with all of my camera gear, but I would love to get the fireworks at the capital.
The Metro Camera club meets on the 2nd and 4th monday of each month at the Will Rogers Garden building NW36th. www.metrocameraclub.org This is a larger more diverse crowd with lots of activities to be involved in. The Oklahoma Camera Club meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at the YWCA near I44 and N. May. www.oklahomacameraclub.com They are an older, more experienced and connected group offering lots of old school wisdom. I am enjoying and learning from both.
I think during the State Fair would be great... but Texas/OU weekend is notoriously crowded, and sometimes even dangerous. Probably not a great idea unless you enjoy sitting in traffic, being hassled by a huge police presence, or fighting the crowds, drunken ones at that.
The fair is running from September 30 - October 23 this year. Hopefully it won't be a million degrees in October, but you never know. ;o)
