Count me in! I'd love to do that, even though I don't think we have a LOT of DPC'ers. Might be best to wait until school starts again - hard to co-ordinate over summer with people away or busy taking care of the kids.
Depending on when I might be in. It could either be a mountain / landscape type outing or a downtown outing. The Market in the summer is great pickings for people shots.
Geez right when I'm not going to be back in Seattle until next summer! If you guys get together post back how it goes, then maybe it can happen again next year when I'm around again!
Photodude - I'm not sure about the GTG as yet but I can suggest places to go for photography. The last two weeks in July should be good just about anywhere here weather wise. On a trip that includes both Washington and Oregon the don't miss spots between here and there are:
Downtown Seattle - Pike Street Market has great street scenes, lots of characters and action, people shots galore. Seattle Public Library and Paul Allen’s Experience Music Project at the Seattle Center offer very cool architecture. The waterfront will offer views of the Olympic Mountains and sunsets. You might even be in town for the Blue Angle air show over Lake Washington early July.
On the drive between Seattle and Portland you can hit Mt. Rainier National Park and Mt. St. Helens National Monument. They offer very beautiful but different scenery shots of majestic mountains, glaciers, rivers, wildflower fields, lakes, etc. You will not be disappointed but leave yourself at least one overnight in each of these places as there is lots to see and shoot. If you happen to travel north towards the Canadian border a must see is Artist Point at Mt. Baker. True wilderness mountain shots that you can drive to with short hikes to remote locations. Plan a full day.
As for Eastern Washington if you have the time you can do the North Cascades Loop drive. You cross the mountains twice at Hwy 2’s Stevens Pass and then at Hwy 20’s Washington Pass. Plan two to three days for this drive to get the most out of it. It is worth the trip. That would also bring you out near Anacortes (my home,s end me an e-mail if you want further info). From there you could take a ferry ride through the San Juan Islands. You won’t regret it.
You could hit the Washington Coast but since you say your going to both Oregon and Washington I would hit the Oregon Coast, it is beautiful.
I guess that is enough for Washington. Oregon will fill your time also but I’ll let one of them give suggestions for down there.
