I got a couple of comments on my photo Buffalo I should have used a polarizer. I have heard of polarized sunglasses, but not for your camera. What is it and what does it do?

Check out the "Understanding Polarization" link on the tutorials page.
Polarizers cut glare and/or relections on windows, water, etc. They are sometimes used to deepen the blue of the sky but only work in certain orientations to the sun. If you want a really neat trick try looking at sheet plastic in the sun through a polarizer while rotating the polarizer.
