I have a question about the sharpness option I have in my camera. It ranges from +2 to -2 and the default is 0. I thought that at 0 the camera wouldn't do any sharpening. But now I think that when using negative values the camera probably won't blur the image, right?

My manual unfortunately doesn't say anything about that and I also couldn't find this information on the web. In test photos I didn't notice any significant differences other than that on +2 the images are a little bit darker. However, I don't want to let the camera do any needless processing because I want to do that myself with my image editor.

Any hints appreciated.

I'm pretty sure the -2 setting will get you "no sharpening". I don't think there will be any blurring. The QV4000 does do rather aggressive noise filtering, however, which can look like blurring of fine detail. there does not appear to be a way to turn off the noise filtering.

Thank you kirbic. Didn't know that about the noise fitering. Now I have a cheap excuse when my photos aren't as crisp as they should be ;-)

The +2 is hard 0 is normal and -2 is soft. I take most of my photos at +2 it puts the photo into very sharp focus, and I don't get comments anymore like its out of focus or its to soft.
