hey everyone i was just wondering if youve been to germany and knew some good places to go. were are some good places that not everyone has been too. thanks for any sugestions in advance
I lived in the Black Forest for 3 years, and I think that area is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. If you are into nature and hiking and the like, the area where France, Germany, and Switzerland all come together is gorgeous. Freiburg is a great city in the same area. It has lots of old architecture, etc.
If you do end up in that area of Germany, try and get to Basel, Switzerland and Strassbourg, France. Both are really fun cities. Basel is more modern and has lots of museums and that sort of thing. Strassbourg is an older city and has a great cathedral in the center of its old town.
Weimar for kulchur, Warendorf, Dülmen and East Prussia for horses, Xanten, Cologne and Aachen for Roman history and architecture, the Teutoburg forest for pre-history, the Baltic Sea for amber, Nuremberg for Wagner, Munich and the Alps for all things Bavarian including thin beer, bland sausages and pretzels, Berlin for the Baroque embedded in Europe's largest construction site, Lemgo for "pickert" and evidence of Hanseatic times, Steinhagen for Schnapps, Soest for bread, Lübeck for Marcipan, the Weser valley for romance and fairy tales, Hamburg for whores and Thomas Mann, Lüneburg for bog, heath and quaintness, the Moselle valley for fruity wine and gorgeous landscape in the fall, Black Forest and the Rhine for tourist traps obscuring the sights, Bavarian Forest for crystal, Düsseldorf and Cologne for contemporary arts and the autobahn for speeding and minimum speed limits...
well ive lived here for about two years and have got to see alot i have friends down in freiburg and i agree that it is probelly one of my favorite citys here i think since the weather is finally getting nice i would probelly like more outdoor ideas ones maybe a litle more remote.
Mmmm..Heidelberg! Make sure you go to the Castle there and tour around the old town. In Dusseldorf, make sure you visit the Altstadt (spell check) which is the old part of Dusseldorf. It has lots and LOTS of restaurants, shops and bars and it's right on the Rhine River.

Mine were all taken with the F717 and I don't know where those are at the moment. I have a really good one from the castle and it shows the scale nicely with some teeny tiny people walking around. :) If I can find the photos I will post them for you.

I just got back from visiting family in Germany and Italy...here's a photo taken from the castle in Heidelburg...I have a bunch more, just need to process them all!
I´ve been to Germany twice, one of the most interesting places I visited was Nurnberg, the old city is amazing, with the medival castles and walls surrounding the oldest part of the city, there is the Nurnberg ring a Formula F1 circle, the Zeppelin stadium, and many interresting places, I only had 1 day to look around each time I went there (work trip) so I didn't see all the good stuff, only the old town and the closest surroundings.
I was born in Muenchen and spent my first 20 years in Germany.
I would strongly suggest to go see the Landshuter Hochzeit, an incredible historical festival that only happens once every 4 years or so, and it is on THIS summer!
It is truly amazing to see, the photo opportunities are endless.
I sure wish I could afford to go, too. :-(

i went tto a castle in st. goar this last weekend ill post some pics when i get home but it is right along the rhine river their are castles everywhere and its one of my favorite places ive been.
I live near Munich, so I can suggest some nice places around here. Are there any particular areas you are wanting to see? Munich is a beautiful city, Augsburg has a lovely old city center. Walchensee is a beautiful alpine lake.

And of course if you want to go to a realy remote location for some quite time by yourself, there is always the Oktoberfest. (Note, the Oktoberfest is at the end of September, not October).
After living in Germany for 6 years, and with family in Frankfurt, I would recommend the Romantic Road. You can start in Wurzburg with the castle and rezidence there, then on to Rothenburg, then just keep driving south. Heidelberg's castle is a good site. Then on down to the Alps in the south, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Berchtesgarden, include in that the salt mines, and Eagle's Nest. Neueschwanstein is a must see, and you have Hohenschwangau there as well as Schloss Linderhof close by.
