There was a photo in a challenge a while back that consisted of a traslucent vignetting effect around the image (differing but symmetrical widths) so I imagine that anything goes these days.
Well the rules says you can't have photos inside the borders, so i take that as "textures" are out too?

I'm a guilty borderer...but the most recent response in Site Council discussions seems to be "anything goes" with borders, except as stated in the rules regarding adding outside art or text. I don't use any otherwise-illegal filters either.
Many people are complaining about my border this week -- I'm doing much better than expected, considering! But I'm concerned that people don't think it illegal enough to request a DQ, in which case my score may be a bit lower than otherwise...it would be good to get a definitive ruling -- maybe create a gallery with samples of legal and illegal borders...
For now, enjoy the triptych challenge where it's REALLY anything goes, and a border is almost a requirement.
