I posted a few test shots Here. All the shots have been resized to 1200x800 with Photoshop 7 and saved under a quality of 7 (I only have access to a dial-up connection for the next few days). No editing whatsoever.
I'm very pleased with both the 28-135mm IS and the 75-300mm IS. The Autofocus is great and works very well in low light conditions.
Very nice, very nice indeed. Not too bad for a Canon - of course, Nikon images would have added more punch. [grin].
I look forward to seeing more of these wonderful shots and especially in the Flora and Fauna challenges. It looks like you were out shooting birds, so is that one of your subjects? With that new long zoom of yours it can make the images even grander with the extra 1.6x magnification ratio from the chip, so you should be able to get in real tight. Lots of fun.

Yup, the 75-300mm is a bit soft around the 300mm level, but not too bad 220mm and under (equivalent to 350mm on a 35mm camera). Still workable with 300mm (480mm equivalent) in my opinion. The Image Stabilisation comes in handy at that level. The 28-135mm seems to be sharper.

Congrats, Jacko. I picked up an F717 yesterday, though it was sitting right next to a 10D in the display case. For a moment I thought about it (a mere $2500 CDN) but I swear I could feel my Visa card recoil in my hands...
I'm incredibly pleased with the quality of the F717, for my needs it's perfect. I'm looking forward to doing some serious battle with you guys now that I've got a fairly respectable tool. Consider the gloves off!
I don’t think the 75-300 is quite as bad as some people make it out to be. This shot is not from the IS version and it does not show the edges of the frame and I did use Fred’s CS Pro 2.0 to sharpen it set to low intensity. I don’t think it is that soft really. Maybe I am crazy?
