I'll be on Montreal later this month for four days total (three actual days that count) and I'm looking for suggestions - photography-wise and otherwise, too. I'll be there with a family (two small kids) so no skydiving suggestions please :D
I know that there must be a member or two from there... I'll do my homework, search their portfolios and try to find pretty places to shoot.
(I'm not thinking of DrJOnes' studio, though - more of the outdoors kind of deal).
There's lots to see in montreal, and you choose a good time to do some, its getting warm here! Green stuff should be out when you get here as well.
Cool things i recommend: Olympic Stadium, although locals hate it, its very cool and you can go all the way up for some super panoramas.
Mont Royal is our big 'hill' in the middle of the city, again from which you can see pretty much the whole island (yeah Montreal's an Island...) and there are some very cool hicking trails in it as well (carefull for downhill bikers).
Old Port town is very neat as well, day and night. Its near water so there are big boats, lots of people and some nice 'comedians' and "Entertainers".
If you go Nort East or West, you'll find some 'rich' entourage as the high-class lives there. So from big houses to luxurious Cemeteries, lots to see.
Also the Lafontaine Parc is very cool with a big lake in the middle. Lots to see there for candids. Some Tennis courts as well as baseball, Soccer and Football in the summer.
Downtown is a bit dull for pictures tho, as its mostly grey and straight.
If you're secure with your sexuality, the Gay district is very colourfull, especially during summer, with DragQueens and expensive cars (porche, Lambo, Ferrari, Audi, BMW. Mercs... and so on...) You gotta be lucky, but still.

*slaps forehead* an man, Kosmik is so right... I completly forgot about the biodôme. Nice call Yanik... and while we're at it... The Botanical Garden should open up soon (outsides anyways) and the indoors are always open i believe... I think they are still displaying the 'butterfly' thing as well (you get to walk in rooms with tones of butterflys flying around, its very cool).
man.. come to think of it... i got lots to do this summer myself LOL...
I'll make sure I visit all of these places. It's a vacation, and I'll be outside (weather permitting of course) all day for the full 3 days. On day 4 I'm moving north, to spend another 4 days at Mont Tremblant.
I'll pack some extra CF cards for that...

I've already been to San Francisco, and I'll have my wife hold me under my arm... That should be secure enough I hope.
I don't think that I'll need a guide - let me rephrase - I could probably use one, but I don't think that I can submit anyone to the unpredictability of walking around with 2-yr old and a 5-yr old. As usual I'll submit to their wishes and try to sneak one or two places of interest for me and my wife when they're not looking:-)
Montreal is a great place to visit, and live for that matter.
Atwater market (south-west), or any market for that matter. There's one North (Jean-Talon), and another more north called Marché Central. Lots of fruits and flowers.

At the west end of the Lachine Canal, you'll find Lachine. Very nice place to spend an afternoon:

Basically, just come and take photos wherever you are. It's a great and beautiful city. All you have to do is look around.
Notre Dame Basilica, weather your religous or not, the architecture is quite stunning. I know there are photographs of it here in dpc. Here is one I found
