I use Homesite which I like a lot but you might need to know a little more than nothing to use it. Dreamweaver, maybe? What kind of website do you need?
I think Dreamweaver is excellent, and we've shelled out mucho wonga for a legal copy of it, along with Photoshop and some other applications that are all mindblowingly expensive. :(
It IS a really good package.
But unless you're intending to create websites for a living or create a really big big site (or you're willing to get an illegal copy) then I'd count it out on cost grounds.
Different strokes for different folks but I found NetObjects Fusion counter-intuitive. Homesite would likely be better for people used to most Windows software.
I need to find something that is quick and easy. I have very little to no HTML experience and need to put together a decent website. Any suggestions?
Hey scab. If you can find someone that has Microsoft Office on their computer, they may have a very simple program to use called Microsoft FrontPage. You just place items on the page just like a drawing board and it encodes it as you go. Very nice. I built my site with it in about 2 hours. I don't have a lot of stuff on their, but it's worth a shot. Check out my site and contact me if you need to know anything about it. I can help you.
You might want to try this freeware program. I have used Coffee Cup software programs before, and they're usually quite nice and also user-friendly. They offer a free wysiwyg (what you see is what you get as in the Dreamweaver software) and another version that is reasonably priced that has more bells and whistles for a mere $49.
I've managed a national organization website for several years and have used quite a few programs. I started writing pages when I had to code a lot of the info by hand!!
This coffe cup software is what I would recommend for a beginner who has little or no knowledge of html coding.
