This Friday, April 29, we will be launching a special Invitational Challenge. While the challenge topic will remain secret until the challenge begins, we are pre-announcing the invitation criteria to make sure as many people are eligible as possible.
This challenge will be open to any member who, at the time they submit their entry, has made more comments than they have received. If you update your entry after submitting, you will need to be eligible at the time of update as well.
The beauty of this is that if you are not eligible now, but wish to participate, you can make yourself eligible simply by commenting on enough entries to bring your total over the top! To check your comments made and received, go to your profile and check the "Made" and "Received" statistics under "Comments" in the statistics box. If you have more comments made than received, great! You're eligible (just make sure it doesn't fall under)! If it's the other way around, then you need to make enough comments to bring your "Made" count higher than your received.
As always, please remember that abuse of any site feature will not be tolerated. Users who mass-comment by means such as cutting and pasting, or other means that do not indicate any effort to comment meaningfully on the entry, will be subject to suspension of site privileges. Please take this as an opportunity to spend some time providing valuable and specific feedback, rather than meaningless one- or two-word comments.
We look at this challenge not only as a small way to say "thank you" to a group of users who have gone out of their way to help their fellow photographers, but also as a way to encourage everyone to participate actively in the "give and take" that has helped to make DPChallenge the mutually supportive community it is.

What's really bad is this made me think... what if we all "gang up" on the BradP's and the Jacko's. If we all leave comments on their images, then they won't be qualified to participate. What a nasty thought!

Although there have been exceptions, the extra challenges are generally for members only -- but $5 would make you eligible for a month.

Like most invitationals, this challenge will only be open to Members (those with a blue icon).

Well, while you attempted to generalize, it seems like you picked the two masters that currently do not qualify for the challenge. (BradP has a chance, while Jacko would have to spend the rest of the week commenting to get the eligibility...)
I wonder if SC has figured out (as of this moment) how many members qualify for this challenge? I'd be curious...

Geez - the price we gotta' pay. Good thing I managed over 250 comments in the Abandoned Buildings challenge, otherwise I wouldn't have a chance!
