I have seen lots of great 'cliche' flower photos... especially of white calla lillies done in black and white... I hope to be able to get a few callas in black and white....
A striking photograph, John. Here in Mexico artists have long favored the calla in their artwork.
For your title, is that BREATHE as in "I find it difficult to breathe", or BREATH as in "It takes my breath away"?
The title 'Breathe' was inspired by the shape of the flower... It looks to me like this flower is standing alone with its 'head' laid back... facing the sun... taking a long and deep relaxing breath of fresh air...
It's a great shot, but exemplifies why I suggested a "white" challenge. The upper section of the lilly has some lack of distinctness which seems to happen in most, all "white" subject matter, remember my Eagle Portrait? Is there some way to vary the lighting so that the upper section doesn't wash out? It's really, really good! I'm just hoping for impossibly GREAT!
Very similar to one I just added to my portfolio. Amazing how much difference different lighting can make. Even thought they're both black and white with a black background, I think yours conveys cheeriness and light, while mine has a darker feel. Both of yours are beautiful. That hot white is a very fine line to walk, and that alone makes me prefer your second image. I think there's more detail in that one.
