I think you are right, Gwendolyn. The depth of field is much too great in my opinion, and that makes the big pine tree really distracting. And even though it's neat that you have 3 different species of birds there in the birdbath together, there isn't one distinct focal point, at least to me. The Robin's face is in the shadow, and the male purple finch (I think that's what he is) has his back to the camera. The bluebird is very striking, though. While I like this shot (added it to my favorites in fact), I don't think it's a likely candidate for publication. Just my uneducated opinion, but I guess that's what you were looking for! |
