Its Iowa's Capital so it has the older capital building plus has historical things around...
Des Moines Things to do Des Moines Attractions There is a nice minor league baseball team there maybe they'll be in town
The Des Moines Art Center is small, intimate and quite good..... Located in and near a nice park, there are also some other good city parks around. The Capital is worth a visit.
