OK, having had my camera for a few months now, I have to admit to having not taking many photo's other than snap shots and the few challenges I have entered here. So, today I went out for a few hours with the specific aim of taking some shots my favourite is below and there's a couple more here.
I'll echo that "wow". Especially considering the other images you linked to. The image with the moving water is fantastic, as is 'Alison by Candlelight'.
Your landscape images are haunting. Some of the skies feel a little too blown out to me, but the pictures are still very nice. The foliage almost looks like you're using infrared film. I assume you're doing some nifty things in post-processing, or is there really an IR filter for digital cameras?

First of all, great shot. I really like the reflections in the water... I wish you could have fit a little more of that in the frame. If I could take a shot like that, I'd be showing it off too. I think it would have been worth a try to put the shoreline at the top 3rd and use the water to show the sky. But don't take that the wrong way, you have a wonderful shot as it is!! The thing that restricts that is if you were shooting across a little creek or something where there isn't much water...didn't think about that earlier. Probably whats keeping me from reaching the level of you all on this site here. Anyway, GREAT SHOOTING
Even if that wasn't possible for this shot, I think ispzil has some good suggestions to keep in the back of your (my!) brain in case a situation presents itself in future.

...better than that you got the reason right too. Not sure what you guys would define as a creek but this was a fairly narrow river and there wasn't much water to play with. Worse, I don't have a tripod, only one of those very small bendy leg things so all were shot from ground level and the perspective gave me even less water. I did look for somewhere to try and get a reflection shot but couldn't find anywhere high enough.
One thing I did figure out though - due to the relatively long exposure for IR, any small ripples in the water are smoothed out and reflections better defined. Not sure how it would work with a normal shot. These shots were between 2 & 4 seconds exposure - maybe loading up on strong ND filters to get the long exposre would do the same thing - must try that.

Hey, what are you doing, this is a great example of how to use negative space positively... I would have hidden this one and used it for this weeks challenge! It's a great shot, with great atmosphere – I'd have scored high on this shot…
