Looking at the numbers you give, they must be the total charge of the batteries, when fully operational. Nominally it is the number of milli-amps times hours (mAh) that the things theoretically can deliver. So, higher numbers mean longer lasting time on the job. Mostly the instructions that comes with the batteries will tell what currents they want to be charged with. Imagine a fully discharged battery of 1800 mAh, at a theoretical efficiency of 100% it would take 1800 hours to charge it with 1 milli-amp per hour. You can figure it out. By the way, for AA-batteries 1800 is about the max that you can buy these days. The other numbers probably relate to voltage (1.2 or so, instead of the 1.5 that non-rechargeables give when fresh).
