I got my first payout this month at $133 & am already $40 towards my second one. I also have photos at Istock (When they don't get rejected) and am also almost at $ 100. So for my $200 made I have bought a Manfrotto tripod & ball head, a 1 GB 80X lexar CF card, a EF-S 17-85 and a 50 1.8 lens + UV filters. The rest goes towards my new 300D later this month. Got to let it accumulate you see.
I have realized the folly of my ways and no longer send photos to istockphoto or shutterstock...I have kept the ones I already sent in the first month or two and I'm currently at about $35...
I'm actually making about 30-50 cents a day on referrals at shutterstock so I'll just keep doing that until I reach my $100, then I'll pull out.
The industry really is being ruined...but I mostly stopped because it's barely worth the effort. I just don't enjoy taking 'stock' photos right now...
As for pinupinoo, what's going on with that? I thought it was supposed to be up by now...
Yes I agree with cloud, I would much rather get paid $150.00 per download. I may not get as many downloads as I did at shutter stock, but just one pays more than the last 3 months at shutterstock.

hey gurilla - just curious as to which have been your highest mover (or movers). i have had a shutterstock portfolio for awhile, but only had a few images.. recently uploaded more, but still only at around 40 or so.. anywho, made $5 in the past week or so, which isn't that great but i'm happy with.. but all my sellers tend to be animal pictures and a couple flowers. was wondering what luck everyone else was having.

Just remember I'm not shooting for stock, that's just where some of my photos end up. Some people are shooting for stock and turning over 3 or more times that per month where I have taken a few months. But sometimes I don't even upload anything new.

Mine are an average of about 60 to 75 mb. Its easy when you save them as a .tiff. O yeah and thats another thing most of these "royalty free" stock photo agencies only except jpeg how are you suposed to get the best quaility out of that.

I had not felt that I was up to that sort of standard, but it looks like I may have an outlet for my prints starting in July I think, so I'm just starting to look into cost of matting and frames etc.
But even if it surpasses shutterstock it does not replace it. It will always provide extra income. Its a once off download why wouldn't you do it.

Because most real stock agencies, do not want photos that are avilable for 20 cents. For instance alamy will not accept any images that you have already submited to shutter stock or and other royalty free agencies. I'm not saying that you cant make money on shutter stock, but you have invested alot of time and money in to your photographic skills. So why give your talent away. Of course shutter stock will make it sound like they are the greatest thing on earth, all I am saying is weigh your options carfully.

Travis, I don't think that's entirely true. I believe you can submit RF photos (not rights managed) to Alamy and other agencies, as long as they're not the micro-payment sites (shutterstock, istock, etc). For example, I know some who have the same images on Alamy and Acclaim.
