First I'd like to thank everyone for the votes on my AA photo.
This was a quick snap I took while down in Guatemala on a medical mission trip as their official photographer. I have been wanting to share the images with you, but waited until the challenge was over.
I took over 1300 images while down there for the week. A lot of them will be of the team and what they are doing, but you may find some interest in some of the photography of the locals and their towns. You can find all the images at:
That's one big tumour....even the medics are taking photos of it! Kidney or lipoma? Well done for supporting this worthy cause.
Actually it was an ovarian cyst. The estimated that it had been growing for 5 years. It ended up weighing in at 14 pounds! I don't think I'll look at a Thanksgiving turkey the same now! :-)
Wow that's a lot of photos! I'll cruise through them as I get time.
How did you get the opportunity to go on the trip?
I have a friend who told me about it. I applied as their photographer and got the nod to go ahead and go. I'll tell you, it was harder than I thought. Long days, followed by getting my shots online each night so the people back home could see what we had been doing that day. Will I do it again? Perhaps, but next time probably go into the villages so I can get a different view point of what they do.
I love the shots of the little girl before and after she received her prosthetic legs... what an amazing experience to witness for her and her family. I also love the shots of the marketplace. Great photography, and even greater philanthropic effort. Wow. :o)

Those shots of her walking were only the second time she had been on them. She didn't speak Spanish, only Mayan, so even though no one could communicate with her, she smiled and warmed the hearts of all that were near her.

If you ever have an opportunity such as this, I highly recommend it. It was very rewarding for me.

What a great experience to be able to participate in helping out those people. I don't have time now to go through all those photos, but from what I've seen so far, an incredible documentary!
